Degree of roast measurements provide a valuable check on how consistently you're roasting coffees. With Typica you can easily record both whole bean and ground color measurements, view reports that capture statistical data about these measurements, specify degree of roast as part of a product specification, and easily see if you're roasting coffees to spec.</video:description><video:player_loc>https://video.typica.us/videos/embed/7180ae3a-89a0-454d-8821-2b34c8839ac9</video:player_loc></video:video></url><url><loc>https://video.typica.us/videos/watch/21c63495-4828-4773-ae64-452375a40855</loc><video:video><video:thumbnail_loc>https://video.typica.us/static/thumbnails/21c63495-4828-4773-ae64-452375a40855.jpg</video:thumbnail_loc><video:title>Roast Profile Development: Brazil (Brewing Problems)</video:title><video:description>This episode of Roast Profile Development uses a coffee from Brazil to demonstrate how different approaches to roasting can impact coffee brewing by exploring several options for dealing with a coffee with an excessively large bloom.</video:description><video:player_loc>https://video.typica.us/videos/embed/21c63495-4828-4773-ae64-452375a40855</video:player_loc></video:video></url><url><loc>https://video.typica.us/videos/watch/33e511ac-4768-47a5-8c63-8c45c22f66dc</loc><video:video><video:thumbnail_loc>https://video.typica.us/static/thumbnails/33e511ac-4768-47a5-8c63-8c45c22f66dc.jpg</video:thumbnail_loc><video:title>Roasters at Roasters Guild Retreat 2016</video:title><video:description>A look inside the roasting tent at the 2016 Roasters Guild Retreat.</video:description><video:player_loc>https://video.typica.us/videos/embed/33e511ac-4768-47a5-8c63-8c45c22f66dc</video:player_loc></video:video></url><url><loc>https://video.typica.us/videos/watch/edfaccde-92b4-40ec-b4ca-69f9922ea1cf</loc><video:video><video:thumbnail_loc>https://video.typica.us/static/thumbnails/edfaccde-92b4-40ec-b4ca-69f9922ea1cf.jpg</video:thumbnail_loc><video:title>Coffee Roasting Measurements</video:title><video:description>When using data acquisition systems at a coffee roaster, understanding what's going on under the hood can be extremely helpful in getting the best possible measurement quality. While initial testing of this feature was performed with machines that are designed to make this sort of profile matching easy, recent roasting research done by others strongly supports the idea that this technique, especially when used together with Typica's profile translation feature, can be used to match roasts across a wide range of very different machines.</video:description><video:player_loc>https://video.typica.us/videos/embed/dee5ba1a-f455-45af-b8bb-cb17a6650d30</video:player_loc></video:video></url><url><loc>https://video.typica.us/videos/watch/235ee3db-09bf-4b12-a2d6-4f86a66c4f8e</loc><video:video><video:thumbnail_loc>https://video.typica.us/static/thumbnails/235ee3db-09bf-4b12-a2d6-4f86a66c4f8e.jpg</video:thumbnail_loc><video:title>Annotation Controls - Typica Tips</video:title><video:description>An overview of the annotation controls available in Typica. Previously, it was challenging to adopt a workflow other than having one person weigh the green coffee for a batch, roast the coffee, and perform post-roast measurements. Now it's easy to have one person weighing batches for possibly several different roasters. Changes elsewhere in the program also make it easy to have someone away from the roaster performing post-roast measurements.

At larger roasting plants, this can produce significant efficiency improvements. It's also beneficial for people with roasters that require substantial pre-heating.</video:description><video:player_loc>https://video.typica.us/videos/embed/2489754a-4410-4185-9ed3-f6188b377a50</video:player_loc></video:video></url><url><loc>https://video.typica.us/videos/watch/9fe2dbd6-67d8-4d03-97cd-b66fa6dbcea6</loc><video:video><video:thumbnail_loc>https://video.typica.us/static/thumbnails/9fe2dbd6-67d8-4d03-97cd-b66fa6dbcea6.jpg</video:thumbnail_loc><video:title>Coffee Roasting in Ethiopia</video:title><video:description>I first went to Ethiopia to serve on an international panel of judges for a coffee competition. This involved spending a week evaluating many of the finest Ethiopian coffees I've had the pleasure of enjoying, followed by another week traveling around the country visiting the communities that produced some of the best coffees in the competition. While the competition judging involved industry standard cupping procedures, I was also able to enjoy coffees prepared in Ethiopia's traditional style. It is still common in Ethiopia for coffee to be roasted in very small quantities in a pan over a fire. The roasted coffee is often crushed and brewed immediately after roasting and served with unseasoned popcorn and an herb that brings some brightness and sweetness to what is usually a very dark roast.</video:description><video:player_loc>https://video.typica.us/videos/embed/9fe2dbd6-67d8-4d03-97cd-b66fa6dbcea6</video:player_loc></video:video></url><url><loc>https://video.typica.us/videos/watch/b3a56920-1f12-4dff-b307-cc5ae0cc41bd</loc><video:video><video:thumbnail_loc>https://video.typica.us/static/thumbnails/b3a56920-1f12-4dff-b307-cc5ae0cc41bd.jpg</video:thumbnail_loc><video:title>Visiting an Ethiopian Coffee Cooperative</video:title><video:description>After helping to judge an Ethiopian coffee competition, I went to visit some of the communities that produced the best coffees to talk with them and hear what they have to say about coffee.</video:description><video:player_loc>https://video.typica.us/videos/embed/b3a56920-1f12-4dff-b307-cc5ae0cc41bd</video:player_loc></video:video></url><url><loc>https://video.typica.us/videos/watch/149b0bb7-0464-4d53-8020-0670c902ec5f</loc><video:video><video:thumbnail_loc>https://video.typica.us/static/thumbnails/149b0bb7-0464-4d53-8020-0670c902ec5f.jpg</video:thumbnail_loc><video:title>Reception at an Ethiopian Coffee Cooperative</video:title><video:description>When visiting Ethiopian communities and meeting with their elders, the protocol was that you leave when they say you can leave. Several common problems with coffee can be seen during green coffee grading and there are standards for ranking the severity of these defects. Ideally, visible defects will be sorted out of a coffee before it is sold, but there are also buyers for bad coffee containing many defects. While these visible defects can have a discernible impact on cup quality, there are also faults and aromatic taints that can only be detected by roasting a sample of the coffee and tasting it.</video:description><video:player_loc>https://video.typica.us/videos/embed/de02c6be-4034-4302-897a-abf0ddef92f7</video:player_loc></video:video></url><url><loc>https://video.typica.us/videos/watch/eb40a14f-bfdc-42b6-9748-ff0ff4d319d0</loc><video:video><video:thumbnail_loc>https://video.typica.us/static/thumbnails/eb40a14f-bfdc-42b6-9748-ff0ff4d319d0.jpg</video:thumbnail_loc><video:title>Coffee Sorting in Ethiopia</video:title><video:description>A visual inspection of coffee is often performed before delivering it to a buyer to remove visible defects.</video:description><video:player_loc>https://video.typica.us/videos/embed/eb40a14f-bfdc-42b6-9748-ff0ff4d319d0</video:player_loc></video:video></url><url><loc>https://video.typica.us/videos/watch/c34f349b-42ad-40a4-a612-cb9ca5139a37</loc><video:video><video:thumbnail_loc>https://video.typica.us/static/thumbnails/c34f349b-42ad-40a4-a612-cb9ca5139a37.jpg</video:thumbnail_loc><video:title>Cat enjoys paper towel</video:title><video:description>When my parents travel, I visit their cat.</video:description><video:player_loc>https://video.typica.us/videos/embed/c34f349b-42ad-40a4-a612-cb9ca5139a37</video:player_loc></video:video></url><url><loc>https://video.typica.us/videos/watch/89ce5e05-8e6a-4035-b1f4-3f4a6125ba88</loc><video:video><video:thumbnail_loc>https://video.typica.us/static/thumbnails/89ce5e05-8e6a-4035-b1f4-3f4a6125ba88.jpg</video:thumbnail_loc><video:title>2018-08-01 Coffee and Code</video:title><video:description>The first episode of Coffee and Code covers the latest build of Typica, the shut down of my accounts on some sites and opening of new self hosted accounts on other platforms, goings on at the next Coffee Roasters Guild Retreat, committee work, and an interview in Roast Magazine. While I'm not impressed with this early part failure, I called System76 and they handled the situation very well. I got to speak to a real human quickly. That human was able to help me instead of needing to transfer me to someone else. They didn't need to ask me any questions to pull up my order info. And they decided that I could probably manage to swap in a replacement fan on my own since I already knew how to open the machine up.

Hopefully this sound won't drive me too much crazier while I wait on the part.</video:description><video:player_loc>https://video.typica.us/videos/embed/d67c7949-bcc2-4ec5-92ce-302c32372c85</video:player_loc></video:video></url><url><loc>https://video.typica.us/videos/watch/f61e0b48-5cce-4d43-8da4-6a3bde1e4f7c</loc><video:video><video:thumbnail_loc>https://video.typica.us/static/thumbnails/f61e0b48-5cce-4d43-8da4-6a3bde1e4f7c.jpg</video:thumbnail_loc><video:title>2019-01-01 Coffee and Code</video:title><video:description>Coffee and Code episode 3

Errata: An editing mistake resulted in a missing paragraph. After the bit on tipping and before "how much of a concern is that really?" should have included, "On the other extreme, it's possible to hold the seeds at a low temperature, drawing dry air through the mass of coffee, and you can dry out the coffee. That's a physical change and not a chemical change, but this water turns into steam inside the cells and pressurizes the inside of the coffee. This gives some of the chemicals in the coffee a medium to move in during roasting so the chemical changes we want can happen. Remember, if the reactants can't come in contact with each other, they can't react even if there is sufficient energy, so this sort of physical change early in the roast can impact which chemical changes are possible later."

Well, it looks like I main everybody's favorite cocogoat now. Clip 1: Ganyu makes short work of Der Freischütz, completing the Marksmanship series. If you wonder how far extremely far is, this far seems to do the trick. Clip 2: Paimon demonstrates that while Ganyu no longer safely rolls down mountains like a ball, she can bounce. Clip 3: Another player visited and asked if we could fight Oceanid. Ganyu and Qiqi are happy to help.</video:description><video:player_loc>https://video.typica.us/videos/embed/8f1e9495-39b3-4d78-8531-95bae6346231</video:player_loc></video:video></url><url><loc>https://video.typica.us/videos/watch/2de9ea59-04e3-49a2-8913-3cff6d886d52</loc><video:video><video:thumbnail_loc>https://video.typica.us/static/thumbnails/2de9ea59-04e3-49a2-8913-3cff6d886d52.jpg</video:thumbnail_loc><video:title>Ganyu Vs. This was one of the last treasure chests I found before reaching 100%.

Fun fact: I pulled Zhongli mainly so I wouldn't have to switch to Geo Traveller for these kinds of puzzles. The play is very sloppy and the overall time is long since I didn't have Bennett's burst charged at the start of the attempt. If the event were re-run today I'd be able to do better with weapon and artifact upgrades, but it's possible that this may have been record setting Qiqi damage despite a few possible yet significant improvements had a serious whale gone for it.

Update 6/13: A mega-whale has gone for a higher Qiqi record and got it with a cryo burst build so this is no longer a record on single target damage out of Qiqi, but it might still be a record for total damage out of a single Qiqi attack allowing multiple targets and even more likely it might still be a record for largest damage with a Qiqi plunging attack.</video:description><video:player_loc>https://video.typica.us/videos/embed/06776099-4c81-4348-ab7c-3bfe4c0c2697</video:player_loc></video:video></url><url><loc>https://video.typica.us/videos/watch/ce8d4b82-9e78-4d8e-a06d-56e1f0ddc26a</loc><video:video><video:thumbnail_loc>https://video.typica.us/static/thumbnails/ce8d4b82-9e78-4d8e-a06d-56e1f0ddc26a.jpg</video:thumbnail_loc><video:title>Yanfei Objects</video:title><video:description>Sometimes this game decides to just randomly teleport the player back to a previous location.
